Multimedia: CREATE DREAM
A creation of Nik Hajny, Alvaro Olsen, and the rest of the NYU CREATE team, the “Digital Reference and Assessment Experiment Manager” (aka. DREAM) is a system designed to house and execute all of NYU CREATE’s games for learning. Inspired by Valve Corporation’s STEAM platform, DREAM was conceived to not only allow users to play all of CREATE’s games through an account, but it also aims to collect important data on a player’s progress, behaviors, and preferences during play. With this information, NYU CREATE hopes to shed a new light on educational games, in order to enhance learning technologies for a new generation. My role in its development was to create graphics and mock-ups for the user interface. Below are the preliminary designs:
Mock-Up 01: The DREAM Game Center featuring Noobs vs. Leets, a learning game about geometry.
Mock-Up 02: The DREAM Game Center featuring the Alien Game, an app used in research on executive functions and cognitive load.
Mock-Up 03: The My Account page, featuring game statistics on each game, including awarded badges of mastery.
Mock-Up 04: The DREAM Log-in page.
Mock-Up 05: A template for automated DREAM e-mails.
Mock-Up 06: A mock-up of the “Packets” page, where surveys, tasks and games are listed for the user.
